I just bought a 2000 Accord LX (4 cyl.) from a friend of mine. It is acoupe with low (58,000) miles. The reason I am posting is to ask if there is anything about this particular model that I need to be on the lookout for? It has been well maintained, but I don't have the records in front of me to know about all that has been done. I seem to recall that there was a transmission issue with this generation, but maybe that was with the V-6. I have spent a lot of time driving this car over the past two or three years and it is very solid and quite nice. The PO has had no problems at all with the car.

Change the trans fluid every 30k miles regardless of what the main't schedule says.
Watch for trans fluid seeping at the axle seals.

 

I have a car just like yours, actually Same model and year, Had to have tranny replce at close to 100k casue it was still under wareenty. But yeah changed fluid alot very often. Only use honda ATF.

 

tranny issue was with the 4cyl in that generation as well.

yes. i cant remember off hand. you might find it if you search on it. i think it was 7 yrs, 1ook or somethin like that

 

I believe it ends at 107k miles. Not positive though. Check the recalls and TSB section though.
