Default 2000 Accord P1705

Here is the deal. The tranny in the car was not doing that well, so I replaced it. Bought a nice professionally rebuilt tranny and installed it. Every connector is back in place and fluid level is ok. First time I tried to move it the P1705 code surfaced and comes back immediately upon shifting in to gear. Any ideas on what to look at? I hate to just jump and start replacing the range selector sensor.

The diagnostics say a fault in the gear position switch or a short in the wiring.

Q1: Does the gear indicator in the gauge cluster stay on when the shift lever is not in that position? If yes, then you need to unplug the gear selector connector.

This diagnostic is kind of lengthy. I would download the 98-02 shop manual from the spooner link in the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section. Page 14-64 shows the diagnostic tree.

If you mean does the D4 flash even when not in that gear, such as reverse, the answer is yes. Unplugging the connector in the console will serve what purpose?

The manual is available through this website? Online Manuals thread shows up where. I could not find that link.

Thanks for your assistance.

Here is the thread I am talking about:

The first question I asked was the first step in the diagnostic tree.
