2000 accord rear drum problems. NEED HELP ASAP!!
hey guys i was working on my car today trying to get my back brake shoes up for better braking power. anyway i was trying to take off the drum by using bolts on thoes thread holes. we'll one bolt broke and the other one striped the threads right off!
now i have a back drum with no way of taking it off. any suggestings on how to get the damn thing off. because once i get it off i think im ganna get a new one. it sucks tho because they are fairly new. like 2 months old. please help me out.

If you can get the broken bolt out with vice grips, you may be able to re-thread both holes for a bigger bolt.
You will likely have to drill out the original hole in the drum with bit about the size of the tap. I think that I bought a set of titanium drill bits and they went through a rotor bolt with no problems compared to the steel bits.
Use two high grade bolts (like 8.8) that will not snap off.
Turn each bolt 1/4 turn and keep working back and forth.
Maybe apply PB blaster in appropriate spots to eliminate some friction. Use anti-seize on metal to metal contacts when reassembling to prevent this from happening to you again.

I usually use a large mallet or 3lb. hammer to break the drum from the hub. Make sure you're emergency brake is down all the way, if it's engaged a little it can stop you from taking the drum off. I've never used those holes successfully before

if someone replaced drums 2 months ago and they are this hard to come off,, i would have to assume that they adjusted the rear shoes way too tight ,,or like it was suggested make sure that the e-brake is all the way down ,,,
if drums are this new , they should come off real easy ,,,,it is when they are really rusty that you would need to use those bolts to remove the drums ,,,,,

they are not that rusty. because i used that same bolts to take the other side off to adjust the brakes. and its not tight because i would be taking it off if they were tight.
the bolts i used were stainless steel so that could have be it. its a soft steel. ill try to wack them really hard to break it free. wish me luck. damn drums
