Default 2000 Accord warning lights

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 2000 Accord for cheap. It has 141,000 miles but has a bunch of warning lights on. It runs smooth, but it has the check engine, SRS, and ABS lights on. The ABS does not work. When the car is running, the headlights seem to dim a little.

Could all of these warning lights be a sign of a bad alternator or does each of these systems have a seperate problem?

Thanks

Put all info about your car in signature. 4/6 cyl, auto/manual, LX, DX....

Read fist post on this forum that covers this info.

I would treat the 3 lights as unrelated right now. You should start with the check engine light first, as this is the easiest to have checked.

I would disconnect the battery, then I would clean all ends of both battery cables. Once the check engine light returns, I would have the codes read at a parts store. I would also have the battery, alternator, and starter tested while you are there as well.

I apologize for not reading that first.

I am driving a 2000 Accord EX with a 3.0L V6.

If your battery or alternator connections were flaky, loose, corroded, or dirty, it's possible that all your warning lamps were caused by low system voltage.

Disconnecting the battery will clear all the errors. If they never come back, then you'll be happy. Otherwise, have some AutoZone-type place read the errors. Get the actual error code number, not just the guy's description.
