Default 2000 Honda accord 4cyl bogging at 3000 rpms

Car Bogging down at 3000 rpms. Usually when hotter outside.
Symtoms:

- Doesn't act up going short distances, Only after 30 to 40 mins of driving (city or highway).

- After driving 30 to 40 mins, begins to bog/choke at 3000 rpms.

- If I barely touch gas pedal and EASE into 3000 rpms car while shift to next gear okay.

- If I jump on the gas it will choke/bog/buck at 3000 rpms, have to left off gas to stop bog.(cant push it or it will stall the car completely).

- Car will continue to bog the rest of the time driving.

After park for about half an hr or so, car will drive normal again for about another 30-40 mins.

I have monitored this for wks and same thing EVERYDAY. but only when its above 70 degrees out. Can drive at night when its cooler with no problems.
Took car to Autozone to have code read for CEL and it pulled a p1381 code. Not sure what to do now. ANYTHING HELPS
I have replaced the following:
-Plugs
- Wires
- Distributor cap
-Distributor rotor

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

I moved your thread from the DIY request section, we no longer use that section for help questions. The General Tech Help section is a good place to post such questions.

P1381 = CYP (Cylinder Position) sensor intermittent interruption.

For your car, it can be a problem with the CYP (which is located inside the distributor) or due to the alternator (faulty diodes in the alternator may cause electrical interference to set the code).

If it was the CYP sensor, the distributor housing needs to be replaced, as the sensor is not separately replaceable.

From your description, it may turn out to be the alternator, as it is a known problem sometimes with your generation Accord 4 cylinder. See attached excerpt from a September 2005 Honda Service News article. Many auto parts stores can test the alternator for free.
