Default 2000 Honda Accord v6 wont go above 3200 RPMS

Hi, I have a 2000 Honda Accord v6 coupe. My throttle body cable was starting to break so I bought a new one and installed it. I also thought id clean the throttle body while i was down there without taking it off. So i cleaned it and hooked everything back up and now for some reason my car will not rev above 3200 RPMS and cuts out like it is at max rpms and is throwing a check engine light code witch I have not gotten the code read yet. I was wondering if anyone knows what this is, its very strange all i did is change the throttle body cable and spray a little cleaner in there.

Thank you for the help

Is the throttle cable too loose ? When you start the car does it idle normal ? Get the car scan for code and see what the code is for, check engine light is on so it means it could be electrical related, could be tps not working right or something.

ya the car runs perfect below 3200 rpms, the cable is just right im pretty sure its something electrical like a bad sensor or something its just wierd all i did was unplug them. Do you know what shops check the engine codes for free?

Some auto stores (autozone?) will do this as well. Be sure to get the actual code from them. Should begin with a "P" and four digits like "P1457".

One thing you might do, if you haven't. Go back and double check the connectors are seated all the way.

ya they come back after ive cleared them, im going to go to auto zone later and get the codes from them, also ya i made sure they are all connected i think i might have sprayed the throttle body cleaner into a censor inside the throttle body or something, ill post the codes in a bit when they open.

Ok so the code is P1259 - Vtec malfunction, sorry it took so long it is apparently illegal in California for the local shops to read your check engine codes.

Check your oil level. Check that you did not forget to plug in or damage the vtec electrical connectors when you did the previous work. I'm not sure where the vtec solenoid is on the V6 engine.

I never had a V-6, but...
Looks like the VTEC spool valve is integrated into the oil-filter-mounting hardware.

VTEC solenoid (#14) - wiring dirty/loose/corroded?
VTEC oilpressure switch (#17) - wiring dirty/loose/corroded?
VTEC valve gasket & screen (#13) where it bolts against the engine - dirty & plugged?
Plunger down underneath the #14 solenoid - dirty & sludge?
