my mother in law has a 2001 accord ex and lights started flashing at start up, thats headlights, taillights, and interior lights, almost like alarm going off except the horn not honking. The flashing only lasts about 3 seconds and does not do it every time, car runs and drives fine, it has the factory alarm but key fob is lost, so she is locking and unlocking just with key.

 

I just bought a new keyless remote for our 2001 Accord EX-L V6; it came in the mail today and took less than one minute to program. I don't think the lost remote has anything to do with your MILs blinking lights, but hey, you never know. Either way, you can buy her a new remote for less than $75 (including shipping) and program it yourself.
