Great forum people. I have seen a lot of great info here but still have a couple of questions.

1. Alright, same old story. I bought a used 2001 Accord LX and it came with no remotes. How can I tell if it has the factory keyless? It did come with the orig. window sticker and it does not state anything about having keyless. I have searched and searched and have seen some info on the box screwed to the inside of the drivers side lower dash piece. Is that for the factory keyless or the Honda made aftermarket keyless? My car does not have that box. Is there another box under the dash somewhere?

2. If the EX model came with factory keyless, would it be as easy as stealing the box and harness out of a wrecked one and plugging it in to mine? I know. some of you would say "just get an alarm" but I really do not like aftermarket stuff and would like to have the factory keyless even if it means a little extra work.

My dad's 01 LX came with keyless entry but was NOT from the factory so I would assume your car doesn't either.

 

I think only the EX model came with keyless. My LX doesn't have it. You could probably try the junkyard thing. It might be a PITA taking apart all 4 doors and getting the actuators out though. They make aftermarket keyless entry kits for like $100 I think. Junkyard would definitely be cheaper though, just more work

Since the car has power windows/locks why would I still need the actuators? I would assume the brain would just activate the factory power locks and trunk? Does anyone know what the factory keyless brain looks like and where it is located in a 2001 accord?
