Question 2001 Accord Odometer Screen Out

Hello .. I am new here. Just bought an 01 Accord for my kid for his first car and I need to fix the odometer screen. It was working fine and now it has gone out completely. You can't see it in the day or night. All other lights seem to be working accordingly.

How do I check this, or??

Thank you!

For giggles check the #13 pass side fuse.....there would be other things not working but it is worth a shot.

Don't think the "self" test came on these until 03

I will do that, you never know... Also out though is the light on the drivers side AC function, the wheel, and the dash lights near the gas gauge are really dim, LIKE a bulb might be out.

Ideas??

AND ... The lights at the shifter are out that tells you which gear you are in.

AND .. The car will not shift into 1st gear. It literally won't, it's like there is something blocking it. goes into 2nd just fine but not first.

Your first post made it sound like the car is an automatic, but your last post sounds like it is a manual transmission accord.

For the lights that are not working, you may need to replace some burned out bulbs. You will have to remove the bulbs and inspect.

Probably the best resource you can buy is a shop manual. A site called automanualsource.com sells the 98-02 shop manual for $22 as a pdf you can download. It shows how to remove the cluster and disassemble to get to the parts. It also has testing procedures and wiring diagrams that can help identify problems.

It is an automatic .. it has gears like a manual .. so after D3 and D4 you have 2nd ear and 1st gear, it will literally not go into 1st gear, when you depress the shift button, and try to slide it down into 1st it feels like it has bottomed out and there is no where else for the shifter to go, it just wont move to 1st gear.

Ok on the manual, thank you!
