Default 2002 Accord EX revving, idling rough with a flashing check engine light

So, turned my car on yesterday and out of nowhere it started idling rough and had a blinking check engine light. It happened at lower gears but when I got on the freeway it seemed to subside at higher speeds.

Came home and cleaned all the carbon out of the EGR entry port the EGR valve, replaced gaskets and changed out the spark plugs. When I put everything together and started the car it was still idling rough with a flashing check engine light and now revs to 4K rpm's and back nonstop. Need to head to the auto parts store to get the codes checked but does anyone have any ideas?

It is hard to guess the problem. Get the codes read, then post them on here. The code will provide direction on the problem. We can provide some test suggestions as well.

Also once you have the codes, is this a four or six cyl.

check for air leaks. any cracked hoses. or unplugged hoses. i worked on a car the other day and left off the purge solenoid hose by mistake and once motor warmed up it went into flashing cel mode and erratic idle. anytime you work on car you move stuff. its easy to leave new stuff unplugged or touch a bad hose where it is now cracked even worse
