Default 2002 honda/with new motor

I have a 2002 honda accord, we replaced the motor, when we tried to start the car the check engine light came on, we scanned it with a computer and the code that we got was p-1706. When you try to crank it the d-4 light comes on and i don't know what to do next. This is my car that i drive to work and my job is about 60 miles one way, i have a borrowed car so i really need to get my car back on the road. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Which engine and transmission? Is the replacement engine new or used?

Who did you buy the motor from? Did you see it running before you bought it?

P1706 TCM A/T Gear Position Switch Circuit Open

Did you check that gear position switch is connected? This fault would likely be cause of D4 light flashing also. W/O the proper trans position, the ECU may prevent starting.

good luck

Oh nicely done! Given that I almost always approach stuff like this with the mentality of the manual transmission bigot that I am, I completely missed the d-4 reference. Pat yourself on the back.

i have run the engine by jumping out the starter and drove the car down the road. the tranny shifts fine in every gear but when you put it in park it want come out and when you cut it off it want start. the d4 light stays on and the code p1706 comes up when you scan the computer.I have checked the gear position senser it is pluged.the motor come from a salvage yard the man who runs it knows my dad .the wiring harness was already on the motor so i looked it over very well and we used it. the harness and pluges looked good no cuts and brooken plugs.

I HATE ELECTRICAL issues......

Check the #9 (number by my manual) 7.5 amp fuse in the drivers underdash fuse panel with a volt meter and KO.

Do the brake lights come on when you press the brake pedal?
