2003 accord engine problem
Hi, this is for my daughter. she has a 2003 accord ex. all 0f a sudden one day recently ,she shuts it off and it never starts again.towed to mechanic he checks, first says it's timing chain, then he checks compression ,and tells us there isn't any. she has 106,000K, and has always changed the oil at 3000K, the mechanic said the chain jumped 3 teeth, and according to him, and someone he asked at honda, said the engine is gone. how is this possible, and has anyone ever seen or heard this..thank you..
It can happen, but shouldn't. I would complain to Honda and ask for help on the repair.
Valves will be bent, so cylinder head must be pulled to refurbish head. Timing chain and associated hardware must be replaced.
Failure could be result of lack of lubrication of chain, so this problem should be investigated.
good luck

It shouldn't fail at this low mileage. Somthing was faulty leading to this failure. No harm in asking, particularly if you're a good Honda customer or used their service dept frequently.

Mechanic said, this problem was caused by low oil pressure, and he said it could have caused the chain to jump off timing. instead of fixing with a different engine we are selling the car...thank you for the help.
