Default 2003 Accord LX I4

Hey guys I will need some help with my friend's Canadian Accord. I need to know where the vtec pressure switch is on the motor. I will also be updating the thread as I get more information to what is going on with his car. Dealer quoted him $3K for repairs with no internal engine damage

There is no "pressure switch", but there are 1) VTC Oil Control Valve and 2) VTEC Solenoid Valve.

I think reason for high cost is chain removal is req'd.

suggest downloading an emanual from automanualsource.com for $22.

good luck

damn, that sucks is the chain removal required for both or just the control valve? I have never heard of this type of failure on a car with only 88K miles on it.

Not sure. Replacement of VTEC Solenoid Valve was not addressed in shop manual.

I did find following for VTC actuator replacement in my files.

What code/s are presented? This should isolate problem somewhat.

good luck

There is a VTEC oil pressure switch. Issue will depend on trouble code(s), etc.

Further look found that VTEC solenoid valve is addressed in Fuel & Emissions. It does appear to be replaceable w/o removing timing chain.

Vtec pressure is part of the Vtec solenoid valve assy.

Code will tell what circuit is to be investigated.

good luck

OK I got the 2 codes

P2647 and P0122 so I know what to check first

We are going to clean the screen and see what that does and then replace the TP sensor with Honda OEM.

I think the reason they are wanting so much is Honda does not sell the TPS - you get a whole TB unit.

EDIT: but as you know, there are many tests that need to be done before just "replacing" the part the code is for.....which it sounds like the dealer didn't even do ....they read the codes and said "you need a new X".
