^ unfortunately I really do not have the tools to properly test but the data scanner shows voltage below normal for that sensor. Car was involved in previous accident and he indicated that it appeared previous owner was lax on oil changes

sensor reading WOT was < 3.5V should be at least 4.5 from what I know

Well without testing it is a bit of a guess.

If you/he wants to replace the tps be sure to get it set correct, again Honda does not sell the tps alone. You have to get the entire TB from Honda. Are there any "bone yards" there....you might try getting a used TB. If not, get an aftermarket tps and go from there.

TPS fault can be TPS, connector, wire, or PCM. It pays to check for each possibility before replacing.

I did find that TPS is avialable as aftermarket part on RockAuto and likely elsewhere.

Same caution applies to Vtec pressure switch; switch, connector, wires or PCM could be causing electrical fault.

good luck

here is the update

TPS replaced and drivability was much better. Cleaned out both screens for VTEC and no more error code for the solenoid and drivability returned to typical Honda standards.

final update to thread, he removed the TPS sensor and cleaned it up, it was loaded with carbon from something. dipped it in pure isopropyl alcohol and reinstalled it after letting it dry. that code is gone. At first it sounded like he replaced it, sorry for the confusion.

next we did an engine flush treatment and then removed and cleaned both screens and , voilą, the V-TEC solenoids are now working as they should.

car is back to perfect drivability wise.
