I have a 2003 V6 with 86,000 miles and have been having sporadic transmission issues. Every once in a while it gets stuck in a high gear while I'm driving it, and the check engine light comes on. If I turn off the car and immediately restart it, the transmission performs normally again and eventually the engine light goes off. The car will drive fine for a few weeks, then this happens again. The car also lurches from time to time while cruising at a constant speed, almost as if the transmission is trying to shift, even though I'm not accelerating. I've been told this may be an electrical or computer issue since it doesn't happen all the time??

If the light is coming on you have codes stored. Stop by Autozone and have them read the codes, free service. Post the actual codes here, should begin with "P" and then have 4 digits.
