Default 2004 Accord, No Crank with Video

See video of attempts to start the car

https://youtu.be/U_4LHIsB_AA

Battery seems ok (12.8 volts). Starter replaced 2 years ago.
When you turn to start, no clicking, and driver's cluster lights have Zero dimming. Only the center cluster temp and clock lights go out.
Any ideas??? I'm thinking maybe ignition switch.

Much thanks

Zig

When you press the brake pedal, do the brake lights turn on?

I have the ignition switch out now, so will test later.

Sadly it seems I do have continuity from the ig switch power wire (white) and start lead (white/black). That should mean the switch is good.

Back to your suggestion, what does it indicate if the brake lights do not come on?

Thanks

Zig

That your brake light switch isn't working and will not let you start the car. You could also try the shift lever release and see if the car starts from neutral.

Yeah after thinking it over realized you were getting at the brake switch .

Brake light works, but 2 circuits in the switch so I'll give it a closer look tomorrow.

Thanks

Brake lights work and shift lever lights changes with position.

Start relay is good, looks more and more like the starter

Final answer, it was the starter.

Pulled one out of another car at pick a part for $28 and successfully installed. It had reman date of 2017, and works better than the last one ever did!

Last one bought at one of those parts stores just 2 1/2 years ago.

Honda wanted $700-750 for the job and local shop $590.

Thanks for letting us know. It's too often that we never find out the end of the story.

When my starter was failing. I had to hit it with a hammer to start it . Replacing the starter was not a difficult job on my car (except I almost rounded off the mounting bolts -because I didn't have ratchet and extension on straight -needed wobbler). I have no idea why they want $700. Glad you found the problem. I'm shocked you got a starter for $28!
