I have a 2004 Accord with 138k miles and the transmission went out...automatic by the way. I found a used replacement with what I was told has 11k miles on it and it came out of a 2005. The transmission guy swapped the tansmissions and said it shifts perfectly but the D light on the dash flashes and he is getting the code saying third pressure switch. Any ideas on what could be the cause and how to fix it/cost to fix it?

 

Sounds like it needs a new solenoid. Getting the code from the tranny guy will help us out a bit more.

 

All that he told me is that it said third pressure switch. I forget if he said it was bad or there is a problem with it. He works for a transmission shop and will find out more info tomorow. Also I will be calling the dealer and the salvage yard here in OH that sold me the transmission with a 1 year parts and labor warranty. In the meantime I guess I just have to drive my 15MPG toyota 4 runner back and forth to school....which is 80 miles round trip.

Well, some code scanners will spit out a generic code definition and the actual code. If we get a hold of the actual code (Pxxxx) we could possibly give you a more specific answer.

Just curious, if it is the 3rd pressure switch. Any idea on price and ease of installation? The guy working on it just replaced the transmission, so hopefully I dont need him to tear it apart again.

Well, I'm going by the Honda list price, so prices could be higher or lower where ever you buy from.

AT Oil Pressure Switch is about $43
The solenoids (3) range from $195 to $248

But, this stuff should be covered in the transmission warranty and I would make sure they will cover the cost before you spend your money.

 

Yeah I am going to call them tomorrow before I go to school at noon. The motor is 2.4.........buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......I miss my satellite radio too!!! and leather!!!
