I was driving my car earlier and had to pass a car. It’s an automatic. I pressed my foot all the way down and after I lifted my foot of the rpm’s stayed at around 5000. I double checked and I wasn’t in D3,2 or 1. In order to bring it back down to regular rpms I had to pop into neutral real quick. Anyone know what this could mean?

 

Throttle on the 04 is all mechanical linkage. Something from the peddle, cable, or throttle body stuck. Check each, clean and lubricate, and/or replace as necessary.
