Hey everyone, wondering if i could get some pointers here? I’m working on a accord v6 2005 need to get the front subframe replaced. Is there a specific order on how the bolts and parts are removed if so can some point me in the right direction? also do I have to remove the steering rack or shaft? thank you

 

Order doesn't matter so much as you need to disconnect everything from the sub-frame before attempting to remove the sub-frame, or you could damage an attached component. If the steering rack is attached to the sub-frame, then the steering rack at a minimum must be unbolted from the sub-frame before removal.

I replaced my TSX (4-cyl Accord) sub-frame and used the replacement subframe to identify where items were potentially bolted. I only had to detach the rack on my car. I remember that some threaded holes on my replacement sub-frame were not used, so I tried to transfer as much stuff over as I could, or used a paint pen to mark holes that were used, so I wasn't confused upon installation.

One pointer is to not get the steering wheel to detach from the rack, because my steering angle was way off. Not a huge deal, but took several attempts to get the steering wheel to be at 12 o'clock while the car was driving straight. I suggest getting the tires straight, then mark the steering column and PS rack with a line to help reconnect if they become detached.
