I believe the 22mm is the inner diameter of the spindle nut. The spindle nut may need a 32mm socket to remove it. Double check though, as Honda does have different size spindle nuts (like some require a 36mm socket to remove, etc.) and sometimes there are errors in the service manuals (rare; but does occur).

22mm x 1.5 is the thread size, not the wrench size.

Those 8mm x 1.25 bolts can be had at most hardware stores. Get em say 15mm or 20mm long. You're only using them as jacking screws to push the rotor off. Once you remove the little rotor screws, you may find you don't even need those.

Great wealth of information here, thanks to all!! Every little bit helped!!

Finally, got it done!!

To what was or was not already mentioned from above:

In gathering the tools and any replacement parts up front from a dealer or auto store

-- It is a 32mm rear spindle nut, the dealer gave me the front spindle nut in error, it was much larger. I was going to replace the rear nut anyways, seeing how if I screw up the nut in trying to remove it, I'd have the backup. So back to the dealer which was back-ordered so I had to wait another day.

-- I did mess up using the impact driver (my first time) and accidently drove one screw further in slightly but enough so that now I had a problem. Instead of drilling it out, I used a large nail punch off to one side of the screw, enough to use a pair of pliers on it to remove. Luckily, again, I purchased a extra screw from the dealer.

Bottom line: the car sounds like it's brand new....nice quiet and smooth.
I need to buy the Helms repair book. Most of all, learn to not keep pounding on an impact driver.

Thanks again to all for your help!!

Glad you got it!

You mean it takes a 32mm wrench... I'm sure it's not 32mm thread size. (Just my futile attempt to keep the terminology straight.)

We probably should have mentioned those small screws on the rotor are just for convenience during assembly-line build. When the wheel is installed, the lug nuts hold the rotor plenty tight enough. Lots of people drill out those bolts & don't bother replacing.

You should check the spindle nuts of your wheels. The spindle nuts are the ones holding the wheel bearings. In ordinary honda wheels, 32mm socket are the one you need to remove it.
