Default 2006 Accord EX V6 Brake Lights Off then On

Hi,

I have just noticed that my brake lights come on when the pedal is pressed then do not come on the next time the pedal is pressed. The brake lights sometimes come on then go off when the pedal is pressed continuously. I do not believe it is a blown fuse because the brake lights would not come on at all. I also don't believe it is a broken switch, again becuase the brake lights would not come on at all. I am not car savy so maybe could be either of these two issues. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

could be a poor connection and a brake switch acting up intermittently

need to test power and ground at brake switch + make sure that wiring at switch is ok not a loose connection

Thanks. Can you describe how I would test this w/o electrocuting myself and the tools I would need, or direct me to a previous thread. Do you think the problem is around the pedal/switch, or could it be any where along the wiring?

Thanks,

Tim

A volt meter helps....a test light might work.

Also, does the brake lamp warning (car icon) come on at any point?

I've also seen a "sticky" switch before-meaning the "plunger" on the switch does not come out (turning on the brake lights)....some have removed the switch and "clean/lubed" it and corrected the issue.
