Question 2006 EXL Steering Wheel Volume Control

A few months back all the controls on my steering wheel stopped working, including the horn, I could live with the lack of steering wheel volume control and the horn was only mildly annoying but lately when I turn the wheel any direction the volume just turns down to nothing, always.

I had an aux jack put in so I have it on the CD input when playing music I believe, although I feel as if thats not the issue because it worked for a while after I got the jack installed. I honestly don't know what the issue is and don't want to bring it to the dealer to get it fixed because I would like to know the estimated cost of the repair before I go in and end up spending like $300, has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks for the help in advance!

You should do some testing with your volt meter to identify the problem.

I would highly suspect the cable reel is bad in your steering wheel/column. That allows the electrical connections to stay intact when you turn the steering wheel.
