Default 2006 manual trans fluid

Hello All,

I have a 2006 Accord i4 5-speed manual with 48k on it now. I drive mostly highway.

I read the trans uses 10w-30 motor oil. Should I use the honda trans fluid, or can I use synthetic mobil 1 or redline MTF?

Also, the manual is not very clear on mileage intervals for the trans, what is the recommendation for a fluid change on the manual?

The car is a year and a half old and i bought it new with just 6 miles on it.

Thanks!

I believe that the 10W30 recommendation was for older Hondas (not sure). The best, from what I've read and have been told is either Honda MTF or Redline ...... Smag uses GM Synchromesh and likes it too. I've heard that recommended as well, but not as much as the Redline or Honda fluid.

10/30 can be used in an emergency but should be changed as soon as possible after to Honda stuff says the manual. Honda has a new MTF that is supposed to be an improvement over the old. I changed mine to Red Line MTL the first week I had it, excellent stuff. The newly revised GM syncromesh is also excellent but quite expensive. Which ever you decide onget threequarts because 2+ is needed. Get it changed though, it is past due. I believe 30K is the change interval. I've changed mine twice in 29K (Red Line) and it is silky smooth regardless of outside temperatures.

Thanks for the help. I was afraid I was overdue. I rack up so many miles so quickly, it seems I was just at 30K.

I will try to do it this week. I think i have a few quarts of Redline MTL. Is all the Redline MTL the same? I have some I ran in my Jeep Wrangler to smooth up the shifts, worked great. Just curious if its all the same if labeled MTL.

Thanks again.

the new honda mtf is FANTASTIC! after a few miles of stop and go traffic you will really feel a difference if you had problems before. it really is the best stuff imo - way better than the old stuff.

the interval is every 90,000 miles by hondas standards, however, i'd do it every 45k(on auto's i'd say every 15k-30k)
