2007 Accord SE Fuel Pressure Test
Good afternoon,
I have a 2007 Accord SE with 150K miles. Lately it starts a little hard, idles a little high(800 RPM?) and idles a little rough when parked. Once it warms up it runs well. It has good acceleration, no hesitation etc. I decided to check the fuel pressure today. I attached a video, hope you can open it and watch. Spec fuel pressure is 55-63 psi.
The pressure was 56-58, the gauge needle was dancing around a lot. Based on the test I have several questions. 1. if the pressure is at the low end of spec, is that ok? 2. does the pressure gauge needle dancing around mean anything? 3. With the gauge hooked up I turned off the engine. The pressure dropped quickly, going from 56 down to 10 in just 20-30 seconds. I'm pretty sure the pressure should have remained fairly steady or constant when turning the car off? Can somebody tell me what the rapid pressure drop means? I found no fuel leaks in the engine compartment or under the car(no fuel smell). Is it an issue with the fuel pump? Is there a check valve somewhere in the system that might be faulty, allowing the fuel to drain back to the tank? Appreciate your thoughts, thanks!!

Don't see an attachment.
The rapid drop in pressure is likely due to a failed check valve. The check valve is part of the fuel pump.
Is your 07 SE a V6 or a 4-cylinder? The pressure spec you gave is for the V6 accord. The 4-cylinder fuel pressure spec is 48-55 psi at idle.

Since you are dropping fuel pressure when you turn off the engine, try turning the key to the II position but do not start the car. During the 2 second bulb check on the check engine light, the fuel pump turns on to pressure the system. Turn the key off and repeat a few times to build up fuel pressure in the rail. Try starting the car to see if it starts rough.
The bouncing pressure gauge could be an issue with the fuel pressure regulator or possibly the fuel pump. It looks like you have to drop the fuel tank to get to the fuel pressure regulator, so that could be a major PIA to inspect or replace.
Have you done any recent work on your car? Have you run the gas tank so low that you ran out of gasoline?

Good morning, thanks for your thoughts on this.
I'll do the test you mention by turning the key to the II position a few times, that makes sense.
so the pressure regulator is not in the gas tank attached to to fuel pump assembly?
Thanks!
