Exclamation 2007 Honda Accord timing belt or chain confusion

Hi forum members,

I read on multiple places that the 2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4L has a chain instead of a timing belt. I recently bought a 2007 Honda Accord with the 2.4L engine but when I look in the engine bay, it has a timing belt. Can someone explain this to me? The car has 215 000 kms on it. Is it possible that it been replaced to a timing belt?

Thank you!

What you're probably seeing is the drive belt.

While the 4 cylinder has a timing chain, it has a drive belt too.

The 6 cylinder has both a timing belt and drive belt.

The external drive belt is for the alternator, power steering, etc.

The timing chain is inside the front (aluminum) cover. Even on the V6, the timing belt is inside the plastic covers.
