Default 2008 EX towing capacity (U-Haul) through NM and AZ

Hey all, about to make a trek from PA to Arizona! I drove here a year ago with a 3/4 ton truck and a 6x12 trailer, so I know the terrain down my planned route.

I'm now planning on driving a 2008 Accord 2.4 4-door. The entire trip is flat until I get to New Mexico and into southern Arizona. That's what is making me a little wary. The mountains can get fairly steep in some areas, maybe up to 4-6% grades for some distance. Would my car be able to tow a U-Haul 4x8 trailer with ~400lbs of cargo through this type of terrain? The car is in excellent condition and a mechanic will be servicing it before we leave.

What transmission do you have in your car?

Refer to towing information in owner's manual. Owner's manual electronic file is also available on Honda America's website.

It's 1,000 capacity, but the u-haul website says that I can tow the trailer at 1,800lbs. Doesn't seem right to me that U-haul would misrepresent such a safety-issue...
