I own a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe LX. I believe I'm having an issue with the A/C system. When the A/C is in the off position, something is still running in the background, like it sounds like its on the low setting. Additionally, the battery has died the last two days since the noise began. I got a hot shot yesterday and the car was running, but this morning when I tried to start it the battery was completely dead. Is something draining the battery, the battery is about 18-24 months old. I've read online that the AC relay could possibly be causing the battery drainage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

AC compressor clutch relay (underhood fuse box) is always hot, so if contacts stick closed the compressor clutch will close (compressor should be turning w/ engine on).

If clutch is closed, try pulling the compressor relay. If that opens the ac clutch, a new relay should fix the problem.
