Default 2008 Honda Accord Issues? or normal?

Hello All,

I bought an 08 Accord LX-P last August and i had a few problems. Rack and pinion had to be replaced and my brakes wore out at 12,000 miles. Aside from that the car rattles like no other car I've owned before. Other than that the car drives wonderfully and I love driving it but the rattles really really bother me. In all honesty is this typical of Honda Accords? or should I keep insisting the dealership fix these rattles?

FYI

1) whistle noise from passenger side door at 65 MPH and above
2) vibration on driver window when changing lanes on highway
3) Rattle on the rear deck
4) after installing new rack and pinion I seem to hear a grinding noise, sort of like engine noise coming in somewhere under the steering wheel

I know for a fact the whistle can't be normal nore the increased engine noise....the other I dont know.

I want to know if these are normal or not. If not I want to get them fixed because they really bother me. If they are normal then it won't bother me as much as long as I know there is nothing wrong with my car.

I've owned 3 Honda Accords - and none of those issues were present on any of them.

what model years were they? More specifically I should ask if people with 08's are experiencing those issues. I know previous accords have been rock solid...so don't doubt your accords haven't had those issues present...what is the latest you have?

I have the same wind noise as you and we JUST bought a 2008 Accord EX-L (v6) this past weekend with only 11,600 miles and never wrecked. I noticed it while driving home from MD where we got the car. On a side note I seem to remember this same noise on my '96 Accord EX-L and eventually got used to it or just turned up the radio!

What did the dealer say?

I am thinking of buying a 2008 or newer Accord. I heard rumors of these very issues you speak of...brakes wearing out quickly and noisy. I also heard from one guy that a brake job on these newer Accords requires both pads and rotors to be replaced. Does that have any truth to it? That could make for very expensive brake jobs (which I do myself). Is the noise really a deal killer. We are going to test drive one tomorrow.

Thanks,

Todd K.
