Trying to determine which replacement spark plugs to purchase. Not certain if I have a PZEV emissions system or not?
A photo of the under-the-hood emissions label is attached to this post. Do I interpret this label to say my car has a ULEV emissions system and NOT a PZEV?
Above is a generic vehicle ID number grouped by what they mean. The 3 spot is PZEV if that digit is a 3,4,7,or 8 for USA models. The 000000 serial number is a USA model if it is between 000000-800000. 800001 and above is a Canadian model. Hopefully this isn't confusing, but it looks like all USA models are PSEV.
The other item to identify PZEV vs ULEV is the engine number. K24Z2 - 100001 is a generic. K24Z2 is the engine type. If the 100001 section starts with 15 or higher, then it is a PZEV engine. The engine number should be on a metal plate on the engine near where the engine meets the transmission and should be on the side facing the front bumper. Hopefully it is also easy to spot.
There was enough ambiguity in my mind since the emission label didn't state PZEV that I removed one plug and checked the mfg part number.
A Denso Iridium SXU22HCR11S was installed, which is for a ULEV emissions system, not a PZEV system.
This vehicle was manufactured in Marysville. These are definitely the original plugs installed at time of vehicle delivery. I am the only owner of the vehicle.
