spark plug replacement 2011 Insight
Dealership is saying around $400. $30 per plug (8). The most expensive spark plug that I see a t Autozone for the Insight is $15 so definitely a markup with the dealer. I wasn't expecting $160 for labor costs. Do you think it's better to let Honda do it for $400 or buy the plugs from autozone and find an independent mechanic?

If the spark plugs are reasonably accessible (don't require intake manifold removal), then cost from Honda is very high.
Suggest getting quotes from competent shops who specialize in Honda repairs. Angie's List can be helpful to ID potential shops.

The Honda spark plug is NGK part number DILFR6J11 (or 92491). Honda list price per plug is $25.78; so, if it is $30 per plug, it is a slight mark-up.
If you're talking about the same NGK iridium plug; Auto Zone shows it not available at the stores I looked at, for pick up or ship to home.
O'reilly shows the list price at $22.99 each.
At RockAuto, the NGK are about $16 each, plus shipping costs.
So 8 plugs (4 plugs on intake side, and 4 plugs on exhaust side) approximates $200 + or - in parts.
Factory shop manual refers to: (1) taking off the cowl (plastic cover part near the windshield); which also refers to taking off the wiper arms first.
(2) Remove intake plastic cover (easy).
(3) Remove bolt holding ignition coils, then spark plugs.
It can be done without taking off the cowl though.
