2012 Honda Accord bumper repair suggestions
Hi All,
I have a 2012 Honda Accord sedan, that have the scratches listed in the attachment. How much do you think this would cost to repair? Maaco has quoted me for 286. Does this seem accurate? What would you do if your in this position?
Billy

That's kind of minor. Most of those lighter, smaller scratches should buff right out. The two larger spots could be made to look better with a little primer/filler and then some Honda Taffeta White touch-up paint.
I would use some Quixx Paint Scratch Remover. It really works and is sold at Walmart, Advanced Auto, etc. I use it on my own car.
If it really bothers you after that, then get the whole bumper repainted. However, Maaco paint jobs usually aren't the best. There are other body shops that will repaint it for about what Maaco is quoting you.

The filler/primer I use is Dupli-Color SF 31. I believe their new product number is NGSF031.
Honda had two white colors for the 8th generation Accords. Your picture looks like Taffeta White. To be sure, check the color code on your driver's side door jamb. There is a big sticker with a lot of information, on the bottom row, near the middle is the color code. NH578 is Taffeta White and NH788PX is White Orchid Pearl. -- Yours look like Taffeta White, as it doesn't look like pearl.
The touch-up paint comes with a brush as part of the cap/handle.
If you get Quixx, Walmart has the best price. When using Quixx, do not use the sandpaper it comes with. Mainly use Tube 1 until the scratch pretty much disappears. Tube 2 is only a polish.
See attached pics.

The filler/primer you can get at auto parts stores and Walmart.
The Honda touch-up paint, I would get from Honda. I have not seen in auto parts stores, touch-up paint for the newer generation Hondas.
