Angry 2014 Honda Accord EX-L Issue.

Needing some assistance or guidance on an issue I'm having with honda... Purchased my Accord EX-L only has 4k miles on it. Briefly after pickup our AC system started to blow warm air, come to find out there's a minor crack in the condensing unit I believe... Honda says it's not covered in our warranty bc it could of been caused by something as small as rocks bouncing up and hitting it... They also mentioned that it's a known issue and have seen it before with many '13-'14 accords...

Why is Honda placing something so delicate in a vonerble area? Is there anything I can do to get this covered by warenty? Has anyone dealt or heard of this happening before?

I love my accord but very upset with Honda's response and lack of assistance.

IMO most cars don't have enough protection for the condensers. I installed this expanded metal to stop most rocks from getting in (the expanded metal behind the upper grill is just for looks/continuity).

The 2013-14 Accords already has something similar to give some protection; but, it won't protect against all rocks; so, some can still get through and damage the condenser.

Several years ago, due to a class action lawsuit settlement, Honda did make a retro-fit metal condenser protector for the Honda Odyssey that was riveted to the lower front of the condenser.

Very interesting. Thanks for the reply. Wonder if something may be in the works for this issue... My local dealership told me they have had to replace 10-15 just this week...

I have not heard of anything in the works for the Accords in terms of a condenser protector other than what is already on the 2013-14 Accords.

The previous generation Accords (7th gen: 2003-2007 and 8th gen: 2008-2012) sometimes had condenser rock damage as they basically had no screens on the bumper air ducts. On the 2013-2014 Accords, it looks like Honda did try to address the issue by adding a little more protection; however, that cannot stop everything.

Keep complaining... There are some corporate numbers you can call you may want to search the site a bit or maybe someone has them handy.. Do it on the phone, do it in writing, send copies to the state attorney general. If it were me I would be blue in the face before I paid for a repair on a car with 4k on it.

Its summer they are counting on your giving in quickly because you are sweating every time you drive your car.

Sorry about your misfortune.
