The upper portion of the volume button has cracked and broken off from the steering wheel. This is how the steering wheel buttons appear with the upper volume button having broken off.
The volume button on my 2018 Honda Accord’s steering wheel has cracked in half and broken off.
What are my options for repairing or replacing the cracked button? Is it reasonable for a non-mechanically inclined person like myself to buy a replacement part and fix it myself?
Going by Honda parts, I can find the whole switch assembly (#8), with all the buttons on that spoke of the wheel. About $60 to $80 depending on where. Local dealers sometimes discount to match internet prices from other dealers.
The parts drawings that I looked at don't really give a hint at the procedure for disconnecting the other stuff, and the airbag module is right there in the middle. I'd like to see a procedure from the shop manual before I suggest you try taking it apart. You don't want to fire the airbag in your face as you're working.

Thanks, appreciate the insight. I wonder how much it would cost for my local auto repair shop to install this piece if I purchase it myself.
Just for informational purposes, the following entails replacing the Audio Remote/HFL Switch Control.
Both battery terminals are recommended to be disconnected from the battery for at least 3 minutes before the start of any work, due to the driver's airbag. Although the connectors to the airbag can be easily disconnected if done properly, if the connectors are forced and broken, it requires replacement of the whole harness.
For the lower garnish piece (#2), if the steering wheel is heated, an electrical harness connector needs to be disconnected.
When separating the upper garnish piece (#3) from the control switch (#4), there are tabs and and slots that must be carefully separated. Reassembly is in reverse order and pieces should be carefully aligned.

As far as shop prices, their hourly rates vary so much from place to place, I don't think I could guess what it would cost (even if I knew where you are).
