Default 3plug vs 2plug srs module

Hi guys, i have a 2000 accord LX coupe and the girl i bought if from spilled what seems to be coffee on the module. My mechanic says i need a replacement but my vehicle only has frontal air bags. I went to the local salvage yard and they only have the module with 3 ports which include side airbags. My mechanic says this module will not work, but the salvage yard guy says my cars computer doesnt care about the last plug and it will utilize the two that it needs. My question is: Can i buy the srs module with the 3 plugs and put it in my car (2-plugs) or will that not work to make the airbags (and srs light) functional again??

It has to be the same year and trim. Your dealer can look it up and tell you what models it fits also. But in most cases there are a few it will.
