Default 4 down towing

Hello All,
I have a 2006 Accord that I would like to tow with a motorhome. I realize that it is not recommended, but that doesn't mean it can't be safely done.
I have read about other models that are not blessed by the mfr being towed 4 down with no problem.
Has anyone flat towed their Accord? Any special proceedure? Problems? Comments?
What baseplate/ towbar did you use?

Thanks
William

What does "4 down towing" mean?

I guess that means all 4 wheels rolling on the ground? Seems like the front wheels riding on a towing dolly would be far better.
I'm assuming it's an automatic transmission?

Yeah, for a FWD car, I would think even cars with manual transmissions would benefit from having the front wheels up on a dolly.

Yes, "4 down" or "flat" towing means all 4 wheels on the ground.
The CR-V is approved for towing, but no mention about the Accord. I was wanting to know if someone had been successfully towing theirs, and if they had any special procedures or equipment.
As much "expanding the envelope" takes place here, I would think someone would know how to do it.

I know a guy who has a 6th gen V6 Accord AT that he flat tows behind his motor home, and has done so for years. I don't know what the procedure is for prepping the car to be towed though. Or if it can be done with the later models. You might want to talk to someone at the dealership about it.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I've towed a car any distance, I've rented a full trailer (with brakes) for the car (does that qualify as "4 up"?); seems to me to be a much better solution all around.

That's how I've always towed my cars especially with these trans these days. CVTs you can't even think about towing any other way.
