Default 5th Gen Power Door Locks Will Not Lock

I have a 95 Accord LX 2.2 Auto.
The power door locks DO NOT lock from the switch but will with the key inserted in the drivers lock. The switch DOES work to unlock the doors however.
I bought the car used and have no key fob so that is not an option. I do see a siren/horn under the hood but do not know if it is aftermarket or dealer installed. I want to get an alarm with auto door lock but need to fix the NOT locking part first. The manual shows electrical diagrams but nothing specific that I could find. Where do I start?

Do the power door locks Lock from the passenger side control switch?

If yes, most likely the switch in the driver's door panel is simply worn/dirty. It is possible to remove/clean. Be careful as the parts are tiny. Work on white towel to avoid losing any small parts.

good luck

Check whether pax side door lock will Lock the doors. It shouldn't since it shares common Lock wire w/ both driver's and pax Lock function.

It could be a fault inside the Power Door Lock Control Unit (most likely).

Less likely, it appears from circuit diagram there could be a break in the Blk/Wht wire somewhere downstream (between junction and control unit) of the junction w/ drivers and passengers Lock (blk/wht) wires.

If you don't have a wiring diagram, you can download a shop manual from the Online Manuals links in DIY forum. This will make the meaning of above description clearer.

good luck

I will check the pass side again to confirm it is in sync with the drivers side. I will report back with my findings

Ok I just double checked.

The drivers power door switch WILL UNLOCK the doors but NOT LOCK the doors, the same as the passenger side.

The one difference is if I use the key on the drivers door it will lock and unlock the doors from the outside. Turn key counterclockwise and it locks ,clockwise it unlocks. The passenger side is acting strange with the key. If I turn the key clockwise it will unlock but when I return the key to the REST position the doors will lock again which means I have to keep the key pressured clockwise open the door and then return the key to rest to get the passenger door to open, once open I can reach in to unlock the rest of the doors from the switch but I can not lock them from the switch.

This is very aggravating as I have to use the key to lock the car every time I exit the vehicle. I want to be able to hit the door lock button upon exit to lock doors like in my Dodge truck. What gives, am I overlooking something simple? Has this happened to any one else? And if so what was the fix?

Texas Honda, is the control unit a relay type thingy or an enclosed metal box like the ecm?

Are you only having this problem when the doors are opened?

Will the doors lock if you pull the inside door handle open then try to lock the doors?

I believe you may be asking for something that is prevented by the Honda security design.

System is designed to prevent hitting the door lock w/ an open door and slamming door to lock the vehicle. If you do this, the door will not lock w/ door open. It will lock if you are sitting inside the car w/ door closed. If this is the problem, you will need to learn to live w/ current arrangement (locking w/ key) or get a remote door lock system.

Door lock control is in the driver's door and is metal encased.

good luck

This makes sense now. Thanks Texas Honda.

Now the question is what is a durable unit to buy that will lock and alarm my car. I put an aftermarket alarm in my truck and the remotes lasted 6 months at the most while my Ford Van has the dealer installed alarm and the remotes are indestructible and have lasted 6 years and counting. Any suggestions on alarms with auto locks
