6th gen steering wheel removal

Default 6th gen steering wheel removal
hello
i need to replace the steering wheel, but don't have the special puller.
is it allowed to just tap on it from the back until it releases?

As a general rule, bad idea. Why? Tapping hard enough to get the wheel off can distort the metal. The easy solution is to simply rent a puller.
