Angry 84 Acccord won't start

84 Accord 1.8L standard tany.I was in slow traffic and the alternator light came on,gave it some fuel and the light went off.I tightend the alternator belt and replaced the terminals for the battery cables. When I was waiting for the wife with the car running it just quit running. When i went to restart it,I turned the key to on position and the red dash lights come on,but when I turned it to the start position,it starts for a second or two the stops. When the key is in the start position the red lights and the clock go off.I had the alternator tested it is good.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

There are times I'd swap my '92 for an '84.

So, in summary:

1. Car stalls out
2. Motor turns over for just a bit, and then
3. Motor will not turn over.

Is that right?

Well your car is no spring chicken ya know? I'm sorta suspicious of the ignition switch.
Try starting it and let the key back from the crank position slowly, and see if it still dies right when you get the key to the run position.
Or if you have a testlight you can check for power to the coil with the key in the on/run position.

Default Thanks

I forgot to say that when it starts for a second, right B4 the lights go black,I hear a buzzing noise coming from the center of the dash.I'm not sure if it's coming from the firewall or under the dash.I'm old,so when I was younger I had alot of Fords,do you know what a bad solenoid on a ford sounds like.It can click or buzz.
