88 accord shift cable. Please help

Unhappy 88 accord shift cable. Please help

The cable goes into a small hole into the transmission I can not figure out how to disconnect it. Please help.

I'll assume this is an auto trans......which means you almost have to remove the trans to get to the end of the cable on the trans.

Ok, I can take that.

I assume we are talking about a 3rd gen with an auto trans - didn't answer that.....a 3rd gen Accord is one the is in the 86-89 range. I'm also assuming you are asking about the end of the shift cable - the one that moves it from Park to Neutral to D to....ect - at the trans and not in the console.

Here is a pic for you......note that in this the torque converter for the trans is removed

Now I will admit, I've only removed the trans on a manual trans 3rd gen. So you MIGHT be able to remove the lower cover on the trans and "sneak" behind the torque converter and release the cable....if you do, PLEASE post pic's and how you do this.
