91 accord; gas leak?

Default 91 accord; gas leak?

my MPG has plummeted and when the windows are rolled up, i smell gas. how should i go about investigating for leaks? is there any particular place that is most suspect? thanks.

I'd check the fuel tank & connections. Not sure the best place, but first try removing the base of the rear seat & look for covers bolted to the floor. Might be located on the floor of the trunk, way forwards near the seatback.

The steel fuel lines run underneath the floorpan, but when they corrode & leak maybe the smell can get into the cabin.

Jackfast,

I would inspect your fuel return pipe (ref #15 in this '91 Accord Fuel Line diagram) to see if there are any noticeable leaks along the entire pipe line. I've seen leaks arise in this pipe in more than a few older Accords.

Also, scrutinize the fuel filler pipe for any leaks as well

Fuel injector to fuel rail orings can age/leak. Difficult to see, but easier to smell.

And it's warm, so it evaporates as soon as it leaks.
