91 Accord dash light problem

A wire heating up means electricity is running through it. Plus the other lights are turning on.

Something is up with those two bulbs. It could be a number of items. From loose bulbs, pinched wiring, a loose connection, or a bad cluster?

Since you haven't used a volt meter, suggest watching some videos on YouTube. Try testing for voltage on any battery.

ok

how would i get to the lights in the cluster? specifically the ones above that dont work (they in the "roof" of the cluster)

You have to remove the cluster to check the bulbs. It really isn't too bad to do.

I would invest in a Haynes manual for your car. It is ~$20 and will have a decent set of instructions for your car.

You can also download a shop manual for a 91 accord from the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section. The 91 manual is tougher to use, because it is not one pdf.

I looked last night and it looks fairly easy to pull it out.

If for some reason i dont feel comfortable doing it i will just mount a "redneck" LED to the outside and shine it in Autozone has really small ones

Can i wire this in with the dimmer switch(on page 2 of the link) and be able to dim them with the dimmer on my 91 Accord?

If those are LEDs, they'll behave differently vs. bulbs when you adjust the dimmer.

but is it worth a shot? I would rather not have wires sticking out all over the place and also use up my cig lighter(i actually use that)

is it worth it to try?

I got the same problem on my 1992, im looking forward to remove the dash and follow wires for a bad ground...lol loads of fun coming

If you do it soon...PLEASE PLEASE post some pics! it would really help for when and if i decide to do it

I am a little bit scared to take all that stuff off because i really dont know what to look for. That is why i am asking about the LED lights above. I hope they can just replace the shorted out lights and i would not have to reomve the dash.

but mine is rly a short because when im driving and hit a crack on the road the lights come up and when i hit another crack they light out loll but only for check engine and the others warning lights...and yes I will post pictures of it I should do it soon ebcause im tired of it lol
