Default 91 Accord LX - No Spark

1991 Accord LX 2.2 AT 175,000 mi

I just put a new cap, rotor, wires, autolite plugs, air filter, and pcv valve on the wifes Honda. It ran great for about 5 miles. On the way home it died and will not start. It is not getting any spark at the plugs. The CEL stays on for 2 sec and then turns off when turning on the ignition.

After reading the forum, I would guess it is probably the coil or igniter. It there any thing else it could be?

I was thinking about buying a new TD-31U distrubutor of ebay for $108. Anyone have any luck with these? It seems like a pretty good deal to get everything for $108 compared to $70 for just the coil.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Casey

go to our DIY section,, bottom 1/2 of the page ( no start no spark)
open it and read up . it will tell you how to DIAGNOSE ,, which is always a good idea before replacing parts

accel makes a clear distributor cap for accords that works great. i am using it right now. i know it doesn't sound that great of a thing to get, but it is only around $25 from autozone and you get to see the sparks. it is cooler then you think. also accel makes a high output ignition coil that goes right into your honda. it improves your gas mileage by about 3mpg if you are looking for ways to improve that. both of these things may help you out and they are cheap upgrades from oem.

Just thought I would update this post. I bought a completely new distributor for $110 from theimportexperts on ebay. The new distributor dropped right in and the car fired right up.
