Cool 91 Accord: no spark

Guys,

Car will turn over but won't start.

The whole distributor was replaced back in July of 2010
Replacement part was aftermarket.
Wires and plugs were replaced back in Spring of 2008.

I jumped the two-pin connector to see if I could get a code but no luck.

Could the problem be the ignitor again?
Any idea how long those aftermarket ebay distributors last?

I'm just a broke college student trying to avoid the shop...ha
So any help/tips would be much appreciated..

Thanks!

How many miles have you put on the spark plugs? What kind of spark plugs did you use?

Get in the car and turn the key to the II position, but do not try to start the car. When the check engine light turns on , the fuel pump should turn for about two seconds. The sound is a faint buzzing/whirling sound that comes from the back seat, so turn off the radio, blower, etc.. and listen carefully.

Do you have some basic tools to change the spark plugs? Do you have a volt meter?

Thanks for the reply, PAhonda.
Fuel pump is good. Actually, the car is running again without making
any repairs.

Since it now starts again, it's obviously an intermittent problem.
Could it still be a distributor problem?
I read that it could be the main relay also.

Thanks!

i put 3 distributors in my 91 accord. they have always been a problem. check for power going in, if you have power going into the distributor and nothing coming out, its bad.

Default New problem

Well, car ran fine til today.
I ordered a new distributor but hasn't arrived yet.

Now all power cuts off as soon as I try to start the car.
If I unplug the negative cable and plug it back in, the power comes back.
It then starts up fine but when I kill it and try to start it, the same thing happens again.

Is it the battery?

Thanksss
