new radiator cap and i am still losing coolant somewhere.
i drove 40miles, checked, and still full...on the return trip, low on coolant again.

no visible signs of leakage.
no 'steam' coming out the exhaust.
any ideas?

Hot coolant leaking out can evaporate almost instantly. Get/rent/borrow a tester which pressurizes the cooling system cold. Then the leaks will be easier to find.

Did you ever figure anything out on this?
I had a 93 that had a similar problem. I kept the coolant tank topped off and bled the thing a couple of times and it seemed to do fine after that.

no...after car is shut off and underhood temp is over what the sensor is set at.. ONLY the pass side fan should come on .only for about 10-15 minutes or so..
But again when engine is running, BOTH fans should come on at the same time ,,

they also should come on with the a/c on

once you access this,, click on top tab ( troubleshoot, ) a new page will open ,scroll to the top, on left side there are some diagnoses, click on overheat and hopefully it will help, it has a really good write up..

what a GREAT site that is!
thanks for the link...

i believe my overheating problems are being caused by coolant loss...still havent had it pressure checked.
i added some 'stop leak' today and am hoping (though not expecting)this will do it.
if not, i will break down and have it pressuure tested.
(do any of the parts stores do that or is it strictly a mechanic ($) test?

Pressure testing is easy.

Rent/borrow/buy the tester. It's like a bicycle pump with a special attachment at the end of the hose. Take off the radiator cap (with the engine cold) & put the hose onto the top of the radiator neck. Pump it up. Look for leaks.

The hard part could be FIXING the leaks once you find them.

i tried to fix the leaking with some prestone 'stop-leak'.
huge mistake; my coolant is not circulating at all now.
even removed the thermostat and still no circulation...i am thinking that the 'stop-leak' clogged an already poorly functioning radiator?
or my water pump could be shot?

whats next? replace the radiator?
