when Im driving my car my steering wheel wiggles left and right. I got my tires balanced and I checked my bearings. those are ok. I noticed that my upper ball joint messed up. the rubber seal is ripped and the baljoint is all dry. could that be my problem. my steering also gets hard sometimes.

 

just because the boot is torn that does not mean ball joint is bad,,,,,,is there any looseness on the ball joint ?? at what speed does steering wheel shake ?? if at low speeds chk tires possible separated ply,, or unusual wear, chk tie rods inner and outers ,

 

Ive changed my tie rods already and checked for uneven tire wear. my steering wheel does it from 30-40mph. there is a little loosnes in the ball joint.

 

if you got looseness in the ball jouint they need to be replaced no matter what, Hey try something,,,,,,, rotate tires frt to rear and test drive car ,, i still feel you might have a separated ply in one of the tires

 

I rotated my tires and it turns out that I do have a seperated ply in the tire thanks

A quick check is to jack up the car, get it high enough to get the tire a couple of inches off the ground. Take a long steel bar and put it between the tire and the ground and pull up on the bar. You will feel a loose balljoint when you do this, there shouldn't be any play. Do this for both sides.
