'91 Speedometer not working??

'91 Speedometer not working??
Okay so my friend has a 1991 Accord and her speedometer started to work off and on and the Sport "S" light keeps flashing. I replaced the VSS and the problem still remains. Now she tells me the speedo won't work at all the the car seems to idle high sometimes. Any ideas what to check next?
