92 accord: can not shift without pumping
Hi I have a serious issue with my clutch. I was driving down the freeway and bam blew the clutch master cylinder. Well the slave was bad too... I replaced them both along with a new line into the slave. I have bled it with the info found on here and have no air coming through. The clutch is SO close to working it just isn't. There is plenty of pressure on the pedal when off. I have to shift by waiting until the synchro gears line up. I can put it in neutral, pump the clutch about four times then it will go into first and immediately lose pressure when I take off. I find this to be extremely odd... I need some serious help/ideas PLEASE! thanks again, ~steve
Thank you for the advice. I have returned the master cylinder, replaced it with another brand new one and installed it. I took my time to bleed the system. Everything said and done and I still have the same exact problem. it's like when the car is running the clutch pedal goes limp... but once again I am able to pump it in order to get it into first or w/e gear.
Any other ideas? Things I can try/check? I'm pretty good with my hands and fairly mechanically inclined so i'm not afraid to try whatever it may be.... though simple solutions will be tried first for obvious reasons =)

Here is a thorough DIY video on how to replace hydraulic components in the clutch hydraulics. Maybe there is something in there that you skipped?
The clutch hydraulics are pretty simple. The master, the slave cylinder, or the lines (air in them) are the components.

Okay, thanks for the video that was informative! I watched it and I have done everything in there minus spraying down the inside of the reservoir. I don't imagine that would cause the problems I am having.
I'm still carless atm, does anyone else have any suggestions? could it be the cluch fork or maybe throw out bearing? The throw out bearing isn't making any noise or anything and it was working perfectly fine something went wrong on the freeway going from 2nd to 3rd.
Help please, i'm stranded and I like the accord... I don't want to get rid of it but I can't afford to pay a mechanic... <broke>

Suggest getting some help to press the clutch while you watch the slave.
Is slave moving the clutch fork arm over full travel. Is clutch pedal pressure gradually releasing and slave relaxing?
You need to identify if problem is master, slave, or clutch.
good luck

ok it's taken me a bit to get the money together but i had to buy a clutch kit. another mechanic friend took a look at it and basically said that i need a new pressure plate and throwout bearing. so i bought an exedy clutch kit for like $125 which i know won't be awesome performance wise but at least better than stock. i've got the car jacked up right now about to take the axels off and pop the tranny off. i haven't been around much the last few weeks, been busy, but i sure do apreciate all the help you guys have given. it's pretty cool to know that people just help other people because they can. thanks guys!
