Hi,

I've got a problem that has my mechanic stumped (and me as well). I just bought a 92 Accord LX and I haven't driven it much yet but it is stalling on me.

It always starts great, no problem there and goes perfectly fine for a little while (about 15 minutes or so), and then sometimes it begins to stumble and sputter as I put it in neutral or take my foot off the gas and the RPMs get low. I can keep it running by giving it more gas.

The problem is not happening all the time and when I brought it to the garage, my mechanic has checked the distributor cap and wires and said they are fine.

Could it be a fuel related issue? I just know that when I bring it home it will act up again. Any ideas?

 

have the mechanic hook up a FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE and test drive it or leave it running for a while ,,monitor the pressure , see where it is at when car starts acting up..

Throttle Position Sensor
Mass Air Flow Sensor
Air Charge Temperature Sensor....that's right there are too many sensors but ..these are some of the things your MECHANIC should have checked out ..Help him out and Give Him These Hints..

I've passed it along to my mechanic. If he is unable to figure it out, I am going to try to seek out someone with experience with Honda's in my city. Maybe the dealership.

 

Thanks again folks! I had my mechanic check all the things mentioned. He checked the EACV and throttle as well. In the end he found that the fuel filter was plugged up with gunk. He replaced it and cleaned my fuel line and injectors.

I got it back and it is idling much better and didn't stall in the driving I've done so far. Yay!
