Default 92 Accord. No Injector Pulse.

My son's 92 Accord LX (automatic transmission) has not run for a while now. I am not getting the ground pulse from the ECU while cranking. I have power to the injectors and the resistance checks good on each one. I have good fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I have replaced the distributor assembly and the ECU. The ECU was off eBay, so I don't know for sure if it is good. There are no codes stored, but the ECU had been reset before I started looking at the car. If the ECU is good, would I be able to just put it in, or would it need to be flashed by the dealer? Is there another sensor that would cause the ECU to not fire the ground pulse? How can I tell if the ECU is grounded? I have continuity between the ECU and the car body. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If distributor sensors are not generating timing signals, the car will not strart, but there should be no spark at spark plugs and CEL is set w/ timing sensor faults. Suggest checking for spark. ECU may not generate any injector pulses if there's a distributor fault.

Check Majestic Honda to get the correct part no and make sure you have correct ECU.

good luck

I did replace the distributor and all of the sensors inside check good for proper resistance. I do get spark at each cylinder while cranking. I will double check the ECU part number. Would I be able to put in a proper ECU without needing the dealer to reprogram it?

There is no programming required on these models to my knowledge. Just match the part number for assurance of compatibility.

I see the warning on ebay ecm's about having reprogrammed by Honda to insure emissions are met. I think this is likely a red herring to give them an out in case the unit does not work. I never reprogrammed the used ECM I bought for my 94EX.

Check car-part.com for a used unit near your zip code, go by and inspect before purchase.

good luck

You shouldn't have a problem switching the ECU as the 92s didn't have immobilizers.

I am not sure, but did the 92s have an injector resistor box? I know the 5th gens did, its a silver box maybe 3in x 3in on the driver side strut tower.
