New here bought a honda with a trans problem for a beater car to get to work and back i work for a dodge dealer, but am new to honda so this is what the car does while driving if in d it will act like it shifts to netural any ideas?

 

There are a couple of things you can try.

Does the D4 light blink, the S light turn on, or the check engine light turn on while driving? You may want to check for codes anyways. See the link for checking engine codes in the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum.

Do a drain/refill on the transmission. Use only Honda ATF. Takes about three quarts for a drain/refill. You may want to clean the solenoids on top of the transmission.

You can adjust the cable from the throttle body to the transmission so it has some slight slack. This will improve the shift points, but not the slipping.
